Data management and protection in mobile applications for predicting public mobility

Cities are experiencing unparalleled growth and facing new challenges as they endeavour to become healthier, more sustainable and safer places for citizens to live and work. One such challenge arises in urban mobility and related fields like transport planning, which are evolving to embrace the myriad new opportunities that personal mobile devices, together with data science, may bring to citizens. With more sustainable mobility, the SISCOM projects will contribute to reducing air pollution and environmental impact and help make cities more liveable.

Muvity, gamified physical telerehabilitation

Muvity is a computer application for the gamified physical telerehabilitation of people with chronic injuries. The user does exercises or plays games that have been designed with therapists that involve moving the upper and lower limbs to achieve set goals. The MUVITY project was born to make this technology accessible to doubly vulnerable people, that is, people who have suffered a neuromuscular injury and have few financial resources.

Multimodal sensors for autonomous vehicles

Autonomous vehicles are coming. AVs need to sense their environment reliably so that the vehicle’s control algorithms are accurate. Although initially 3D lidar imaging seemed to be the cornerstone of such sensing units, it soon became evident that multiple sensors are required to safely perceive the environment. Performing detections in several imaging modes simultaneously enables redundancy to be used in detections, false alarms to be minimised and operation to be ensured in all driving conditions.

Carregador de vehicle elèctric bidireccional d'ús domèstic

L’electrificació de la mobilitat amb bateries obre nous reptes per a la integració de la càrrega de tots aquests vehicles a la xarxa elèctrica. En aquest context, el vehicle elèctric pot tenir un paper cabdal a totes les llars. I és que no només es tracta de carregar el vehicle, també ha de poder emmagatzemar energia en aquells moments que és excedentària i injectar-ne en els moments de mancança.

Sistema de tracció elèctrica per a vehicles amb pila de combustible

La transició cap a la descarbonització del transport passa per l'ús de motors elèctrics en lloc dels tradicionals motors de combustió interna, de gasolina o dièsel. Per tal de controlar correctament el parell del motor elèctric cal un convertidor de potència que, a partir de la tensió que genera la bateria o la pila de combustible, apliqui les tensions adequades al motor.

Els models data-driven, basats en la intel·ligència artificial i mètodes d’aprenentatge automàtic, s’estan aplicant ja a la predicció de variables de trànsit com el temps de viatge, les velocitats en els entorns urbà i interurbà, la disponibilitat d’aparcament o l’ocupació de vehicles.

Muvity, telerehabilitació física ludificada

MUVITY és una aplicació computacional de telerehabilitació física ludificada per a persones amb lesions cròniques. L’usuari fa exercicis o juga a jocs dissenyats amb terapeutes que el porten a moure les extremitats superiors i inferiors per aconseguir objectius fixats. El projecte MUVITY va néixer per poder fer accessible aquesta tecnologia a persones doblement vulnerables, és a dir, que hagin patit una lesió neuromuscular i que tinguin pocs recursos econòmics.

Batteries are increasingly present in everyday life. The more accurate an estimation of the state and health of a battery, the more we can optimise the efficiency of this electrical device, which extends battery life and therefore entails less waste and a better user experience.
