The interuniversity master’s degree is taught at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) , the Vilanova i la Geltrú School of Engineering (EPSEVG) and the Terrassa School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering (ESEIAAT) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

Acte d’investidura del Dr. Evert Hoek com a doctor honoris causa de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
L’acte va tenir lloc el dimecres 6 de març, a les 11.30 hores, a la Biblioteca del Campus Universitari de Manresa.
David Parcerisa, professor i investigador del Departament d’Enginyeria Minera, Industrial i TIC de la UPC, va exercir de padrí i va fer la lectura dels mèrits del científic.
Hoek enginyer especialitzat en túnels i estabilitat de talussos i un referent internacional en enginyeria minera i en mecànica de roques, ha desenvolupat durant més de 50 anys una tasca docent, investigadora i professional excel·lent en l’àmbit de l’enginyeria geològica, civil i minera.

Un equip de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) treballa, juntament amb científics del Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), dels Estats Units; l’Instituto de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Mamirauá (IDSM), de Brasil, i la Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), als Països Baixos, en un projecte per desenvolupar una tecnologia que revolucionarà la conservació de la biodiversitat de les selves tropicals. El projecte opta a l’XPRIZE Rainforest, un premi internacional dotat amb 10 milions de dòlars, que transformarà la manera de comprendre la complexitat dels boscos tropicals.

La vacunació contra la COVID-19 té com a objectiu assolir la immunitat de grup que permetrà posar fi a la pandèmia. Els rectors i la rectora de les universitats públiques catalanes fan una crida a la comunitat universitària a través d'aquest vídeo per conscienciar sobre la importància de la vacunació massiva amb l'eslògan "Jo em vacuno per la salut de tothom".

El rector de la UPC, Francesc Torres, fa arribar aquest missatge a la comunitat universitària davant la situació d'emergència sanitària per la COVID-19.

Urban mobility and how to reassure users after COVID-19; future jobs and forms of employment, particularly working from home and work-life balance; the transformation of education and learning; and the importance of verifying information to combat fake news—these are the four challenges set this year in the seventh edition of Challenge-Based Innovation (CBI), a programme organised by @IdeaSquare and the innovation department at CERN to encourage multidisciplinary teams of students to work together with researchers and teachers from different entities on new solutions for the future of humanity.

Eight university teams consisting of 42 students from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), Esade and the IED Barcelona of 19 nationalities, presented their prototypes online after months of work sharing knowledge with CERN scientists. The projects have been in development since September in partnership with Fusion Point, the co-working area shared by the three institutions on the Rambla de la Innovació, on Esade’s Sant Cugat del Vallès campus.

This year’s participants worked online with CERN teams to address some of today’s social issues using cutting-edge technologies developed by the scientific institution. The projects include proposals to reassure users of public transport following COVID-19, systems to increase the motivation of people working from home, technology to facilitate distance learning by people with autism and apps to verify posts on social media. Each challenge was developed by two teams of students from different universities who defined them according to sustainable development goals.
